'Foundation/Exploration' • Level 1+2 Combined Class

$595.00
Sold

FIRST CLASS: May 1st 2025 • 6:00pm - 8:30pm

COURSE LENGTH: Weekly, for 8 weeks.

DESCRIPTION: This class is open to beginner and intermediate potters. With a maximum of 6 students, the small class environment will allow for group and individual learning. We will focus on learning and refining throwing skills and aim to develop consistent and controlled technique. The course will introduce the foundational building blocks of hand thrown pottery and also provide the opportunity to explore slightly more complex forms and technical skills, such as throwing larger pieces and learning how to create handles, lids, and spouts. Students will be encouraged to begin exploring design theory and pottery aesthetics, considering how form and function intersect. Regular group critiques will help students gain constructive feedback on their work and learn from each other.

Students will be encouraged to keep only the best examples of their term’s work. We will not be able to glaze and fire everything you make but you will go home with a small collection to be proud of. If you wish to fire larger pieces or a larger volume of work then we can discuss additional firing fees.

KEY SKILLS:
+ Consistent wheel throwing
+ Creating larger forms
+ Handle and lid techniques
+ Basic design theory
+ Group critique
